We re-evaluate the “sex talk,” distribute food, and journal thoughtfully.

Hi there,
Over this last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend a body safety workshop with my kids. I was glad to have been guided to this resource for my children; it was simple and straightforward and was facilitated by an expert in the field.
At some point during the workshop, I became tearful, not because of what was being taught but because I grieved that I hadn’t been offered the same information while growing up. As the kids in the room practiced yelling, “Don’t touch my body!” I marveled at how far we have come and still have to go.
Our blog article this month is on talking to your kids (or yourself) about sex. For parents, I hope the article makes it easier to start the conversation or keep the conversation with your kids going. For everyone else, it may encourage you to revisit the conversations you had (or didn’t have) about sex when you were growing up. As we reparent ourselves, we get to offer ourselves the sex talk we wish we’d had.
For those seeking support on this topic or anything else, please reach out to us. You can contact us via email at info@takeroottherapy.com or by phone/text at (323) 388-5578.
Warmly,
Saba Harouni Lurie (she/her/hers)

How Should I Talk to My Kids About Sex? The Importance of Discussing Sex, Consent, Body Safety, and Pleasure
What I remember about having “the talk” with my parents is foggy at best. I think I was five or 6-years-old and asked my mother where babies come from. We were in the elevator on my way to visit my grandmother. My mother shared something about how a woman has a seed inside her, and a man waters it, and that’s how babies are made… That was it…
