We process suicide grief, support women and families, and craft with nature.
A Letter From Our Founder
Hi reader,
I just wrapped up a weekend conference on group psychotherapy, and I’m still carrying the warmth of it with me. For two days, I felt seen and stretched, and this all happened 10 minutes from our office in Los Angeles. I was challenged and supported in equal measure, and I left feeling less alone in this work and more hopeful about what’s possible when we create spaces for people to truly show up together.
I want that for all of you. I want that for our clients. I want that for our community. I do believe that connection can be the antidote to so much of what we’re struggling with right now. The despair, the isolation, the sense that we’re carrying too much on our own.
This month’s blog explores grief after suicide, a topic that has touched my life deeply and recently. It’s a heavy piece, and it’s also necessary. If you or someone you love is navigating this particular kind of loss, I hope you find something helpful here. And if you’re not, I hope it can help you understand how to show up for those who are.
We’re also excited to share that we’re launching our first new group in quite some time. Starting this fall, we’ll be offering Rooted in Power, a therapy group for teen girls and nonbinary teens who have survived sexual assault. This group will provide a safe, supportive space for young people to process trauma, build coping skills, and find connection with others who understand. We will include more information below.
We have two other groups percolating that we’d love your input on: Surviving Motherhood, a space for mothers to talk honestly about the challenges of parenting without judgment, and Living Single (if you don’t love this name, I am open to suggestions!), a group for adults navigating singlehood and wanting connection and support around dating, relationships, and building fulfilling lives. If either of these speaks to you, or if you have ideas for other groups you’d like to see, please reach out. We’re listening, and we want to create spaces that meet you where you are. You can always email us at info@takeroottherapy.com or call/text us at (323) 388-5578
Warmly,
Saba Harouni Lurie (she/her/hers)
