Take Root Therapy April Newsletter

We seek to find resolution in romantic relationships (instead of having the same fight over and over), clean up Griffith Park, and make ourselves move.

A Letter From Our Founder

Hi folks,

Spring is here in full bloom, and I hope the sun has been warming your shoulders and your spirit.

This month, I have often found myself vacillating between gratitude and guilt. These two lie so close together for me. I have experienced this personally and within my relationship. There are moments when I feel so grateful and connected to my partner, and I can communicate that with tenderness. Then, there are moments when I express frustration and anger unkindly, followed by feelings of guilt, as it’s not how I want to operate in my relationship. We have found our way to repair, which I am glad for. I have been reminding myself that we are connected. Not just my partner and me (although that is true, and it helps to remember), but also the fact that we are all connected. I have even been looking down at my feet and then imagining the feet of another, someone I want to cultivate compassion and care for. It’s a new practice for me, and I like it.

Our blog article this month is about conflict and resolution in romantic relationships. As always, it is full of research-based information and tips that we hope will help. If you and your partner have been having the same fight over and over, perhaps the article can help you better understand what’s going on for you.

If you know that you need support with this or with anything else, I hope you reach out. Our email address is info@takeroottherapy.com, and you can reach us by phone or text at (323) 388-5578.

Warmly,
Saba Harouni Lurie (she/her/hers)

How Do We Stop Having the Same Fight Over and Over?: Making Sense of Conflict in Relationships and Finding Resolution

The first year of my marriage was the hardest one. That’s not at all what I expected or what I had seen depicted in the movies. I had assumed that the first year would be easy; we would be in our honeymoon period, but that wasn’t the case for us. We had lived together for a few years before getting married. We had made it through the hell of wedding planning, but we really struggled with the transition. We just kept having the same fight over and over, although it took a while for that to become clear…
